Soldiers Wife's Worst Fear.

by Amanda Blevins Pitts
The day came as slow as the snow melting on the frozen ground.
She could not understand why no one was around. The hours slowly came and slowly went, still she could not have been wrong about the flower sent.
She opened the door to a man standing there with a single white rose.
She froze when she noticed the uniform this man was wearing.
Tears stained her eyes, her heart broke into millions of pieces, and her world came crashing around her feet. His face appeared to her saying " Baby do not worry I will be back" and " I love you".
Her worst fear had came true, now she is sitting blue and alone.
A year later she still sits without anyone around and could care less about the time.

I come from a family that know no other life than that of the army life, and there were them moments, however not as sad as these touching moments described in this beauitifully put together pieceKeep wellKacyI myself have not had this experence, but I do know someone that has. She was so torn up about it, so I thought I would give a voice to those women that have been in this situation and that has not come forth.
Hello Amanda,Words fail me . I can only say "thank you for your sacrifice" and pray that peace will come soon. This is not a personail sacrifice that I have been throgh, but I think the women that has been needs to be heard and I am just giving them a voice where there is none.
Hi Amanda.I have written poems about the sacrifices of our military men but this poem is about the sacrifice of the soldier's wife and family. My heart is heavy and sad.Thank you for sharing this poem with us.Welcome to Searchwarp!NenitaI am glad you like it. Most people that write poems try to make things has happy and joyus as possible so others think that everything is ok, but the truth is that everything can not be like they want, and I am a person that will write the facts into my poems no matter how others want to feel.
You've captured the raw emotion that those who have family in the service feel everyday. Great job. I also agree with you, poetry should be about true feelings. Sometimes that is a happy feeling, but there is no better way to express the darker side of emotions than with poetry. I know most of my poetry leans to the darker side for the simple reason that expressing joy is easy, sorrow, anger etc is harder for me to express verbally. Great write and I look forward to reading more!
